The powerhouse vocalist from High Point, North Carolina whose soulful delivery made her an instant favorite with millions of viewers (and subsequently with SRO crowds from coast-to-coast on the "2004 American Idol" fall tour) need have no worry: FREE YOURSELF, Fantasia's much-anticipated J Records CD sizzles and burns with tracks that capture the energy that she invests into every performance - be it in front of a camera or onstage with thousands of the fans she's created in just under a year of national exposure.  Working with music industry legend and RCA Records Group Chairman Clive Davis (who served as a judge during the final stages of "American Idol") as the album's executive producer in conjunction with For good measure, FREE YOURSELF includes "I Believe" which went to No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart in June as Fantasia was celebrating her 20th birthday. Fantasia made Billboard history with the single by becoming the first artist in the history of Billboards Hot 100 chart to debut at Number 1 with her first solo record, "I Believe."  "I Believe" was the best selling single in 2005 according to Neilsen Soundscan charts. While Fantasia's remakes of such classics (including Willie Nelson's "You Were Always On My Mind") showcase her remarkable ability to bring her own special talent to an array of diverse material, she is right at home with the tailor-made original cuts that make up most of the album.  "It was amazing.  When I heard the songs I was getting ready to record, I wanted to ask each of the producers, 'have you heard something about me?' It was like they knew me, they knew about the situations I've been through in my life, and I've been through a lot!" 

In 2008 Barrino made her Broadway debuted in Oprah Winfrey's/Alice Walker's "The Color Purple" play. Playing the role as Celie, Barrino is currently in the studio working on her next release, she will be touring later in the year.
